Award Winning Cabernet Vineyard in the Livermore Valley!
The McGrail Vineyards and Winery is a 16 acre hillside Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in the Livermore Valley. This rolling vineyard is at approximately 1,000 feet above sea level. The vineyard was planted in 1999 on 5BB rootstalk with Clone 8 and 15 Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are spaced at 5’ x 7’ and planted in a VSP, vertical shooting positioning.

Veraison
Veraison, usually lasts about 10 days, and it is the beginning of the ripening process. The berry softens, sugars increase internally, acidities start to change, the berry grows rapidly, and most obviously the color changes.
